Plastic and Rubber 2024, Driving Innovation and Sustainability
The Plastics & Rubber Indonesia 2024 exhibition officially opened on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Kemayoran, Jakarta. This international-scale event, focused on plastic and rubber materials processing and machinery, will run from November 20 to 23, 2024.
PT Sinergi Multi Lestarindo Tbk (SMLE) is among the participants, showcasing several prototypes during the event. The featured products include Processing Aid, Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer, UV Absorber, Antioxidants, and Polyamide.
Processing Aid: Designed to promote the fusion of PVC compounds, this innovation enhances the mechanical properties and surface gloss of finished PVC products. The highlighted variants include PAY-20, PAY-20H, PAY-40, and PAY-90.
Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer: Featuring LS 783, this product ensures long-term stability and durability.
UV Absorber: SMLE presents UV 531, a non-toxic, high-performance, anti-aging agent. It absorbs UV light in the 240-340nm range, offering excellent compatibility and low migration, making it suitable for materials such as PE, PVC, PP, PS, PC, PMMA, EVA, and PU.
Antioxidants: The showcased products include AO 1010, known for its low volatility, migration, and extraction resistance, ideal for heat processing polypropylene, polyoxymethylene, and ABS. Also highlighted is AO 1076, widely used in polypropylene, polystyrene, polyamide, polyester, synthetic rubber, grease, paints, and lubricants.
These innovations reflect the growing demand for plastics, commonly used in packaging, construction materials, automotive components, and more. According to Illuminem, by 2060, three sectors—packaging, construction, and vehicles—will account for 60% of global plastic use. Regions like Sub-Saharan Africa, India, and parts of Asia are expected to see significant growth in plastic consumption, ranging from 3.5 to 6.5 times current levels.
The challenge lies in meeting this rising demand while fostering sustainability and reducing waste. SMLE aims to leverage this exhibition to develop innovations that support environmental sustainability.
