Gray hair? Amla’s Got You

As we age, once black hair gradually turns white or grey—a change most often linked with aging adults but increasingly seen in younger individuals today. Graying hair is a normal part of aging, affecting both men and women and occurs due to several factors. The first is oxidative stress, where the pigment-producing melanocytes in hair bulbs become depleted. This depletion is often due to the impact of reactive oxygen species on melanocyte cells, affecting their nuclei and mitochondria.

A second cause is genotoxic stress, where inherent and external factors can impair the self-renewal of melanocyte stem cells. Lastly, psychological stress can contribute to graying, as nerves from the sympathetic nervous system can activate and exhaust melanocyte stem cells responsible for hair color.

The typical onset of graying happens between the ages of 34 and 44, with about half of men and women experiencing 50% gray hair by age 50, though this varies among different races. Premature graying, however, is classified as the appearance of gray hair in individuals younger than 20, as defined in Pediatric Dermatology's article Premature Hair Graying. This early onset is often due to genetic factors but can also stem from conditions like segmental progeroid syndrome, vitiligo, hormonal changes, nutrient deficiencies, or medications.

In a study published in the International Journal of Trichology, researchers assessed 4,840 students between 12 and 19 years old to understand their hair and scalp health. Among the 35 students affected by premature graying, 11.5% had mild cases, 65.7% moderate, and 23% severe, with the average age of onset being 15 years.

Premature gray hair has become a common issue, with natural solutions like Kerascalp™ offering potential relief. Containing Amla, a time-honored Ayurvedic ingredient known for its anti-aging properties, Kerascalp™ helps prevent hair miniaturization and graying. It supports scalp health by fostering a favorable environment for stem cells, especially by targeting Collagen XVII, essential in preventing hair loss and premature graying. This ingredient helps sustain melanocyte stem cells, countering hair weakening and graying.

Kerascalp™ has been shown to effectively reduce both the number and proportion of gray hairs, as demonstrated in a study with a group of stressed male and female volunteers. This study included 63 participants aged 18 to 55, averaging 40: 22 men and 11 women applied the active formula, while 20 men and 10 women used a placebo formula. Fewer than 30% of the participants had gray hair, and their stress levels were indicated by cortisol levels above average at 14 ng/ml.

Conducted over 140 days, the study measured results on days 1, 84, and 140. Each day, participants applied 5 ml of the liquid preparation (either containing 2% of the active ingredient or a placebo) directly to their scalp and hair, followed by a gentle massage until absorbed, after washing and towel-drying their hair.

Key success measures included changes in hair color and the amount of remaining gray hair. The findings revealed that Kerascalp™ enhanced hair darkness by 6% after three months. Discover the multiple possibilities of scalp treatments as Kerascalp™ at ptsml.id.
